Shirley Parish Church
Cells at St James
Here at St. James, Shirley we are aiming to be a ‘cell-based' church: this means that as well as our Sunday services we are based around small groups or cells.
Cells are small groups of between 5 and 15 people that meet weekly, providing a place to work out our calling to follow Christ in all areas of our lives and building communities of faith where people care for each other and for their friends.
The 3 aims that cells aim to promote are:
- Love God.
- Love one another.
- Love our neighbour.
There are five values that the groups follow as they work to achieve these aims. The groups are there to help and encourage members in their daily life as Christians: becoming disciples of Christ and working out the practice of their faith at home, at work and in leisure time.
* Christ at the centre
* Everybody plays their part
* Everyone learning and growing
* Creating a community to belong to.
* Everyone reaching out to friends.
If you want to know more or would like to be part of one of these groups please talk to Patrick Douglas our Local Mission Developer, who can be contacted via the office, or pick up a Cell information card at one of our services.
Cell Outlines
Cell outlines are sent out to cell leaders and contacts from the parish office via email.
